Today’s Sandwich: Pulled Pork with Blue Cheese Slaw (Homemade)
by Malcolm Bedell on August 23, 2010
With memories of this weekend’s barbecue bender still fresh in my mind, today’s sandwich combines saucy, sweet pulled pork with cool, crunchy, blue-cheese coleslaw, on a split poppy seed kaiser roll. The contrast in temperatures was great, and the addition of blue cheese kept the whole thing from getting too sickly-sweet.

My first memories of cooking start in Maine at six years old, when I wore a yellow rainslicker to avoid getting spattered by the bacon I was frying in a skillet. My interest in both Mexican cooking and recreating classic New England dishes from scratch developed while living in Mexico, on a steady diet of pork and habanero peppers. This is my Welcome Home Sandwich, without fail.
I love pulled pork and cole slaw. Love that you used a poppy seed kaiser roll. Yum. Interesting idea with the bleu cheese.
Thanks, Lacey. I feel like without the blue cheese, it’s a little kid’s sandwich; the sweet pork and the sweet slaw would be a little much.
Do you have the recipe for this? It sounds delicious.
Where’s the recipe? You can’t share such a mouth-watering picture without a recipe..that’s just cruel.
P.S. I love the Rib House.
